After the #IdeaChallenge in Szeged (Hungary), the engagement of the participants hasn’t stopped!
Participants were divided into two types of groups:
#2 Policy Teams
#5 Action Teams
The Policy Teams went to physically deliver a hard copy of their #4 Policy Proposals to the European Parliament on different topics, such as:
The creation of learning groups for Elderly and Young people to share among generations knowledge about safety online;
Investment in Digital Education;
Amendments to the “European Digital Identity” legislation.
They were able to reach out personally to the Member of the European Parliament, Ms. Romana Jerkovic. She was discussing, in a Committee meeting, the Proposal for a “REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL amending Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 as regards establishing a framework for a European Digital Identity”. His assistant was very impressed by their work on the topic!
Additionally, they delivered the documents about the two policy proposals on #CyberEducation in the post-boxes inside the Parliament, where MEPs usually check letters from stakeholders, NGOs, and constituency members. These proposals were addressed to Mr. Victor Negrescu and Mr. Jeroen Lenaers. Mr. Victor Negrescu was also previously Minister for European Affairs in the Romanian Government from 2017 to 2018.
The Action Teams continued their engagement with #10 online awareness campaigns on different cybersecurity topics: phishing, cookies management, data protection, cyber-education for students and school directors, and a program on creating funny and engaging activities for adults and young people about how to stay safe on the internet.
They produced social media accounts and websites to explain the dangers of the internet and how to behave safely.
We are proud to know that the #EGDChangemakers were able to get out of their comfort zone. They know that only by working together is possible to achieve ideas and solutions for making the digital world safer! This attitude will push for an impact among their friends and in public life!
